The Sure Thing Nymph seems to be a favourite river snack, always worth a cast or two!
Used as a searcher pattern, the Sure Thing will certainly tempt Chub (and other species) in small rivers and streams.
Tied with a soft hackle at the rear of the hook and rabbit fur dubbing, it is inspired by Hans van Klinken’s Lead Head Nymph.
The fly in the photo was sparsely tied, but in faster water with a bit of colour I would add a much bulkier dubbing.
I like to tie this pattern in a size 12 for Chub, but sizes 14 and 16 can be used when the going gets tough.
