The simplest of weighted wet flies, the Spider Bomb should be in everybody’s fly box.
Simple is often the best way to go when drifting a wet fly near the river bed and the Spider Bomb wet fly fills this requirement admirably.
Tied on a standard chinese fly hook with a little 2.3mm tungsten beed, it consists of just black 140D thread, a single peacock herl and a small soft hen hackle.
The slotted tungsten bead is threaded on the hook the wrong way around which helps it sit high on the hook, encouraging the fly to fish point up.
This is a nice fly to use for all river species, particularly Chub and Barbel.
