This is an interesting nymph pattern sporting two hackles – one at the tail (Guinea Fowl) and the other at the head (partridge).
It’s a popular fly for Chub when they are feeding on minnows or fry and can incite an aggressive take.
I like to tie this with wine red thread and on a size 12 hook being sure to leave a red butt visible through the tail hackle.
The weight used for this fly is a brass or stainless steel bead and lead wire – for faster or deeper water, a tungsten bead can be used.
The double hackle gives this fly an extra level of movement which can increase it’s attractiveness to various fish species.
